Today we visited three different social work agencies! The first was Casa Noastra, a temporary home for children who have been in an emergency removal from their homes or are in between foster parents. Here we learned about the foster care system and what Casa Noastra is all about. I enjoyed seeing the home and getting to speak with the director and social worker about their careers and their stories of helping children!

The second agency we visited was Pinocchio house a home for children ages 7-18 years old. Here we got to hear about the mission of Pinocchio and we spent part of our afternoon playing soccer, basketball, and board games with the kids who live at Pinocchio!

The third and final agency of the day was a Ukrainian Refugee center. Over 140 families live in the refugee center as an intermittent home. They are unsure of when they will be able to return home to Ukraine. The center is in a middle school and the main hub is the gymnasium where they are provided food and clothing while they stay. We got to fly some kites with the children. I have to say that at all of these places it does not matter that you do not speak the language of the people, a smile and a game goes a long way with kids!
